Our Mission
At the Isenberg Real Estate Fund, our mission is to not only set our members up for success within the commercial real estate industry but to provide exceptional investment opportunities for our equity investors. IREF's role will be to work with general partners to source good investments. After IREF performs our due diligence and underwriting, the deal will be presented to our equity investors, where they will decide if they want to invest as a limited partner.
We are dedicated to maximizing returns through advanced analysis and conducting due diligence on potential investments. Our commitment to responsible investing ensures sustainable growth, long-term value creation, professional development, and the continuous promotion of both Isenberg and UMass Amherst.
What We Do
Professional Development
The core aim of IREF is to introduce students to the diverse prospects within the commercial real estate sector while providing them with essential tools for building successful careers in the field.
Members gain valuable insights by participating in workshops centered around resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, networking, and interviewing best practices.
Networking Trips
The club organizes trips to New York City and Boston, where members visit multiple commercial real estate companies and tour development sites. In New York, members stay overnight, attending company visits and an alumni dinner.
In Boston, members meet with CRE firms and gain industry insights. These trips offer valuable exposure to the real estate world and networking opportunities with alumni and professionals.
Case Competitions
IREF is proud to participate in prestigious competitions such as Cornell's International Real Estate Case Competition, where our members analyze real estate transactions and present investment recommendations against top universities worldwide.
As our fund continues to grow, we are eager to expand our involvement in more industry-leading events and competitions, offering even greater opportunities for members to showcase their skills, network with professionals, and deepen their understanding of the commercial real estate sector.
Real Estate Networking Conference
At the end of each semester, we host a networking conference for over 100 students, alumni, and real estate professionals, celebrating careers and future opportunities in the industry.
The event features student presentations, keynote speakers, and alumni and student awards, serving as a capstone to showcase the growth of the UMass real estate program. This conference is vital to fostering a strong real estate community and connecting professionals with our talented students.
Placements
IREF aims to place members into tier 1 Commercial Real Estate Firms; Members hope to pursue a career in Acquisitions, Banking, Capital Markets, Research, and more. Participation in IREF accelerates career paths in these respective fields, as the club has developed a strong network of alumni and job placement.
